HISTORICAL NOTES:
-
The Alabama 28th Infantry Regiment, formed at Shelby Springs, Alabama, in March, 1862, contained men from Perry, Blount, Marshall, Jefferson, Walker, and Dallas counties. It moved to Corith and suffered losses from camp diseases. Later the unit was ordered to Kentucky and fought at Munfordville
