Hagood served as colonel of the 1st South Carolina, and later led a brigade of South Carolina Troops. Hagood's Brigade of South Carolinians figured prominently in many actions along the South Atlantic coast. After participating in the Wilderness Campaign and seeing action at Cold Harbor and the Bermuda Hundreds,the brigade spent the remainder of the war stationed in the Carolinas. It was present at the siege of Charleston and the Battle of Bentonville,among other engagements. Includes unit rosters from the 7th S.C. Batallion and the 1st, 11th, 21st, 25th, and 27th S.C. regiments.
