The First Families Project
This is an on-going project to research and publish information on the first families of Alexander County, North Carolina. Today this county is home to 37,000 people.
This project focuses on the families who were in the area prior to 1800. Before the year 1847, Alexander County was a part of Iredell, Caldwell and Wilkes Counties.
We have identified 357 surnames (with about 25 more variations in spellings) making up the families living in Alexander County, NC in 1850.
This CDROM contains surname folders on all of these surnames. Some have just a few pages and others contain hundreds. Not all of the notes have connections to Anson County, but the information is designed to help you research your family both before and after the family was in Anson County.
Also included on the CDROM:
Biographical History of North Carolina Vol. 4
Colonial Records of North Carolina Vol. 2
Great Events in North Carolina History Vol. 12
Sketches of Prominent Living North Carolinians
North Carolina schools and academies, 1790-1840: a documentary history
The 1850 Census Index of Anson County
