Company A, Macon County Guards, Macon County men; was organized at Lanier, Macon County, Georgia. Company A formed first to be part of the 3rd battalion of Georgia Volunteers at Camp Stephens, Georgia on 17 March 1862 but then was assigned as part of the 10th Battalion for coastal defense.
