HISTORICAL NOTES:

This regiment was formed during the winter of 1861 - 1862 with 6 companies. It was assigned to the Military District of Georgia, Department of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida from JUL 1862 - JAN 1863. It served along the Georgia coast until JAN 1863. It was then merged with the 4th Georgia Cavalry Regiment.
