Georgia Augusta Arsenal Infantry Battalion



 


HISTORICAL NOTES:

    This battalion was formed from the men who worked in the Augusta Arsenal, the Confederate Powder Works and the Augusta Machine Shop. The men who were employed by the Rigdon and Ansley Machine Shop formed their own company.

    The unit was involved in the battle of Griswoldville and were positioned along Horse Creek as guards at the Battle of Aiken.
