Crute states that the regiment was formed from Muscogee, Jefferson, Cook, Harris, Wilkinson, Telfair, and Crawford counties. It served in Early's, Toombs, and Benning's Brigades. It had 560 effectives at the Seven Days Battles (probably that many again
were sick or on furlough) and surrendered 18 officers and 191 men at Appomattox.
