2nd and 3rd Iowa Consolidated Veteran Infantry Regiment

HISTORICAL NOTES:
This unit was formed by the consolidation and reenlistment of the Iowa 2nd Infantry Regiment and the Iowa 3rd Infantry regiment about he first of 1864. The Iowa Adjutant General's report treats this unit separately although the National Archives Index and Dyer evidently keeps the records with the organizing regiment.

HISTORICAL NOTES:
This regiment was mustered into the service of the United States at Pulaski, Tenn., by Lieutenant Hoffman. Most of the men were from the IA 2nd Infantry Regiment which had reached the end of its enlistment.
