Historical Notes:

    The Missouri 1st Cavalry Battalion, also known as the 1st Indian Brigade was organized during the spring of 1864. Most of the men were from Missouri, but some were from Arkansas and the Indian Territory. It was attached to General Shelby's Brigade, Trans-Mississippi Department, and skirmished in Arkansas. Later it was active in Price's Missouri Expedition. The unit was at Fort Washita, Indian Territory, in May, 1865, and soon disbanded.
