| The Civil War in Mississippi |
The Mississippi 7th Infantry Regiment was organized at Corinth, Mississippi, in April, 1861 with men from Marion, Amite, Pike, Franklin, Lawrence, Yalobusha, Holmes, and Covington counties. It served on the Mississippi coast, saw action in Kentucky, then was assigned to Generals J.P. Anderson's, Tucker's, and Sharp's Brigade, Army of Tennessee. The 7th participated in many conflicts of the army from Murfreesboro
