The Civil War in North Carolina

North Carolina 1st Infantry Regiment Volunteers

Early in the war troops for State Service and Volunteer Units were formed. Due to confusion between the names, the first 10 volunteer units formed were renamed the 11th through 20th Regiment.

The National Archives Index contains 6 names for members of the 1st Volunteers. Only one of these names also show on the roster of the 11th Infantry Regiment: Corpening, W.G. - Company G. Private
Fullwood, J.M. Private
Galloway, H.H. Private
Lourance, Wm. B. Private
Mace, D.A. Private
Turner, T.A. - Company G. Private
