The company was mustered into Confederate service on Sullivan's Island, May 18, 1861, by D.R. Jones, A. A. General, Mustering Officer.

The muster roll of April 30, 1861, gives Sullivan's Island as the company's station; that of May 18, gives the same station; that of June 30, gives Moultrie House, Sullivan's Island, with the note that the company had "changed Station'June 15th from Five Gun Battery to Moultrie House"; that of August 31, gives Sullivan's Island; that of October 31, North Edisto Battery, with a note that the company "left Sullivan's Island, September 14, 1861, en-route for North Edisto, at which place the company arrived September 15th and took Post at the Batteries there erected"; that of December 31, gives Fort Moultrie; that of February 28, 1862, gives Fort Moultrie; that of April 30, Fort Moultrie; that of June 30, Fort Moultrie; that of October 31, Fort Moultrie; that of December 31, Fort Moultrie; that of February 28, 1863, Fort Moultrie; that of April 30, Fort Moultrie, with this note:

"On the 7th April, 1863, this Company forming a portion of the Garrison of Fort Moultrie, S. C., and manning a Battery of Six Guns assisted in repulsing the Yankee Fleet of Iron clad Gunboats after an engagement of 2 hours and 25 minutes. The first shot fired in the action was "A" Co. Battery aimed by 1st Sergt. Snipes distance 2000 yds. it was seen to strike the Turret of the Weekawken and break to pieces. No Casualties occurred in this Company. Officers present Capt Huguenin & Lts Wardlaw and Marshall. Lt Erwin at the time in Command of "G" Co. Battery.

The muster roll of June 30, 1863, gives the company's station as Fort Moultrie; that of August 31, gives Battery Beauregard, Sullivan's Island, with a note that the company on August 6, 1863 "changed post from Ft. Moultrie to Beauregard Battery by order Col. Butler", and had on August 23, and 31, 1863, gives the company's station as Battery Beauregard, with the following note:

"Sept. 3rd. Ordered from Beauregard Battery Sullivan's Island to Battery Wagner Morris Island, S. C. Lt Wardlaw & 30 men at Battery Wagner. Lt Erwin & Macbeth 35 men at Battery Wagner. Lt Erwin & Macbeth 35 men in Gregg. Capt Huguenin chief of arty for the Island. Under heavy fire 5th & 6th. Night of 6th evacuated Morris Island Detachment of Co at Wagner forming rear guard under Capt H. & Lt W. Eighteen enlisted men missing in one of the boats. 7th Sept. returned to B. B. under fire 7th & 8th. Lt Erwin killed 7th. Lts Wardlaw & Macbeth stunned on the 8th."

The muster roll of December 31, 1863, gives Battery Beauregard as the company's station; that of February 29, 1864, gives no station; that of June 30 gives Battery Marshall, Sullivan's Island, with the following note:

"The Co. changed its station from Battery Beauregard, S. I. to Battery Marshall-S. I. May 25th 1864, under Comd. of Lieut. Wardlaw.

"Capt. Huguenin, Lieut. Wardlaw, 1st Sergt. Sowell, Corpl Sparks, Musician Walker and twelve Privates ordered on a Scout to Bull's Bay & adjacent Islands, June 19 1864 & returned on 24th June 1864, after thoroughly scouting the Inlets & Islands."

The muster roll of August 31, 1864, gives Fort Sumter as the company's station, with this note:

"The Co. received marching orders to proceed from Battery Marshall, Sull's Island, So. Ca. July 18th 1864, and arrived here at 12 O' clock same night. It has been under fire ever since."

The muster roll of October 31, 1864, gives Battery Marshall as the company's station with this note:

"The Company was relieved from duty at Ft. Sumter on the night of Sept. 14th, 1864, at 10 Oclk P.M. after being at that post 28 days, during which time the Company was under heavy fire for a great portion of the time."

The muster roll of December 31, 1864, gives Battery Marshall as the company's station.
