HISTORICAL NOTES:

This unit was also known as Aiken's 1st Regiment SC Partisan Rangers. They were mustered into Confederate service as the 16th Battalion SC Cavalry July 23, 1862 and later merged into the SC 6th Cavalry Regiment.

OFFICERS:

Colonel Hugh K. Aiken, Lieutenant Colonel Lovick P. Miller, and Major T.B. Ferguson.

There are no known rosters of this battalion prior to the formation of the SC 6th Cavalry regiment.
