13th Regiment, Texas Volunteers


 


HISTORICAL NOTES:

    The 13th Texas Infantry Regiment aka Victoria Regiment was organized with six companies of infantry, two companies of artillery, and two companies of cavalry. From October 1861 - February 1862, the regiment was assigned to the Department of Texas. On October 19, 1861 Company D was converted to an artillery service, and designated as Moseley's Artillery Battery. From February - May 1862, the regiment was assigned to the Western District of Texas, Department of Texas.

  • ASSIGNMENTS:

      October 1861 - February 1862 - the Department of Texas.
      February - May 1862 - the Western District of Texas, Department of Texas.
      May - July 1862 - Western District of Texas, Trans- Mississippi Department.
      June 1862 - Two companies are transferred to Rountree's Cavalry Battalion.
      July 1862 - Some companies transferred to the 12th Cavalry Battalion.
      February - December 1863 - Eastern Sub-district, District of Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona, Trans-Mississippi Department.
      February 11, 1863 - Company H becomes an independent artillery battery designated as the Field Battery.
      June 1863 - Company B organized as the Austin Grays Artillery Battery.
      December 1863 - January 1864 - Luckett's Brigade, Slaughter's Division (Eastern Sub-district), District of Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona, Trans Mississippi Department.
      January - May 1864 - Eastern Sub-district, District of Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona, Trans-Mississippi Department.
      June - September 1864 - 2nd (Central) Sub-district of Texas, District of Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona, Trans-Mississippi Department.
      September 1864 - May 1865 - 6th (Hebert's) Texas Division, 2nd (Hebert's) Texas Division, 3rd Trans-Mississippi Department.

      Near Velasco, Texas, July 4, 1862
      Near Velasco, Texas, August 11, 1862
      Stirlings's Plantation, September 29, 1863
