Georgia 17th Infantry Battalion State Guards


HISTORICAL NOTES: The Georgia 17th Infantry Battalion State Guards was organized about July 1863 for six months service as local defense of the Iron Works of the Etowah Manufacturing and Mining Company, Bartow County, Georgia. It evidently had 5 companies although the company designation for most men is unknown. The rosters contain the names of 283 men.
