Taylor, William Berryman (1824 - 1863)
I have just returned from Laurens,SC searching for proof of William Berryman Taylor (1824-1863) buried at Mt. Bethel. Stone reads Berry Taylor. I found CSA records of 2 Berryman Taylors and think them the same person. Berryman #1 Company C 3rd Batt'n SC Inf ( Laurens and James). Enlisted Columbia-Dec.2,1861 to Feb.28,1862 by Lt. J.S. Preston. Berryman #2 Company A, 9th SC Reserves 90 Days, 1862-1863. Enlisted in Laurens Nov. 17,1862 by Capt. Hudgens? On Muster Roll as present for Nov. 17,1862 to Feb 14,1863. He is listed on the 1850 census as 30 and as Perryman Taylor. Isn't it possible he might have been wounded or sick and sent home to heal, thus joining the reserves?
