HISTORICAL NOTES:

    This battalion consolidated with the 2nd Mississippi Cavalry and Alabama Cavalry (Brewer's) Battalion and Co. "K", 2nd Mississippi Infantry Battalion; redesignated 8th Confederate Cavalry (Wade's) Regiment, May 1862. I have only turned up 3 names as members of this battalion:

      Cox, J. M. - Company A
      Johnson, J. F. - Company B
      Myers, W. - Company E

    The designation of this unit as a battalion would indicate 500 or more men may have belonged.
