This unit was formed for 6 months service in late 1861. A note filed with the Georgia 5th Infantry Regiment states "Date mustered out of service given as May 1&, and May 16, 1862." It appears that this unit was temporarily designated as Company N of the Fifth before becoming Co. C, 2d Battn. Ga. Sharpshooters on May 20, 1862.
