The First Families Project

Hi, my name is John Rigdon. In the early days of the World Wide Web I was involved in the startup of The USGenWeb Project. The White Paper I authored laying out the vision for the Project is available for your perusal on the USGenWeb Project website. Since 1997 I have been involved in writing and publishing books on the Civil War. We now publish over 2,000 titles. My vision for The First Families Project focuses on the "publishing" of family and local history where The USGenWeb Project first, followed by Ancestry, et. al. has always focused on original records. The two go hand-in-glove in many ways. The First Families Project will always be about documenting our sources and writing historically accurate local histories, but our objective is to tell the stories in a compelling and engaging way that everyone will enjoy reading.
